Local Councillors visit Hermits Table Tennis Club to celebrate use of community grant
Hermits Table Tennis Club recently welcomed Councillor Gillian Thorne and Councillor Dave Jessop to the club, where they were invited to see firsthand the work carried out using a community grant provided by the parish council.
The grant, which was awarded to support the club’s efforts to renovate its premises and thereby improve local recreational facilities, had been put to excellent use with a new kitchen area installed. The councillors were given a tour of the club’s upgraded spaces including the new kitchen area.
Cllr Gillian Thorne expressed her admiration for the way the club had managed the grant, emphasizing how they had maximized use of the available resources. “It’s clear that a lot of hard work and effort has been put into the project, with much of the work being done directly by club members. This has enabled them to achieve much more with the grant than might have been expected. Hermits Table Tennis Club has shown how community grants can make a real difference to a local not for profit organisation to the benefit of their users.”
The club expressed their gratitude for the support received from the parish council and have placed a certificate of grant recognition in the kitchen area which the parish councillors were very happy to see.
Hermits Table Tennis Club is now better equipped to continue its mission of providing a welcoming and engaging environment for table tennis enthusiasts in the area and fostering a sense of community through sport and social interaction. In addition to the regular table tennis sessions, the center also offers Zumba classes, providing a fun and energetic way for the community to stay fit and active. Hermits Table Tennis Club is always keen to welcome new members, whether they are interested in table tennis, Zumba, or simply becoming part of a vibrant community group.
