Wrose Parish Council is pleased to announce that the barrier baskets and planters along Wrose Road and Highfield have now been freshly planted with a calming, elegant selection of summer plants – ready for everyone to enjoy over the coming months.
This year’s scheme for the barrier baskets features cool blues and soft greens, with some pops of baby pink, a gentle nod to one of the key colours celebrating Bradford’s City of Culture 2025.
But it’s not just about appearances. We’ve taken steps to make our planting more sustainable and future-friendly by adding a mix of perennials. These hardy, returning plants reduce waste and support local wildlife, particularly our bees and pollinators.
The displays are designed to brighten everyday journeys and offer a moment of calm in our busy lives. We hope they bring quiet joy to your walks when out and about in Wrose.
💬 Spot a favourite planter? Let us know or share a photo! And keep your eyes peeled for those baby pink blooms – a small celebration of culture, creativity, and community in Wrose.
We’re excited to share that Wrose Parish Council recently commissioned a small environmental improvement project on a piece of council-owned land along Low Ash Road — and nature is already responding!
What’s is the work about?
The focus was on enhancing biodiversity by creating a welcoming space for wildlife while also ensuring the area looked cared for. The works include:
🌸 This balance between careful management and wild growth supports a rich mix of species — and already we’ve had our first exciting visitor: a hawk moth has been spotted enjoying the new space! A sure sign that these efforts are making a difference.
👣 Whether you’re out walking, taking the kids for an explore, or just enjoying a moment of calm, we hope this revitalized space offers you something special to view.
💬 We’d love to hear your thoughts or see your photos if you spot any wildlife while passing by. Let’s celebrate Wrose’s growing green spaces, together.
On Saturday 29 March, Wrose Parish Council joined forces with amazing local volunteers to take part in the Great British Spring Clean. The team tackled litter and fly-tipping at Wrose Quarry Wetland, a beautiful local spot in need of care as it had suffered from irresponsible littering and fly tipping..
Armed with grabbers, bags, and plenty of determination, the group collected around 17 bags of rubbish, along with larger fly tipped items such as an old mattress and lengths of plastic.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part! Your efforts make a real difference—helping to protect our local environment and keep Wrose looking its best for everyone to enjoy..
A big thank you to Cllrs Jayne Allen and Susan Hinchliffe for their hard work in Wrose! They’ve been busy repainting some of the local planters with wood preservative to keep them looking good. They have also been preparing the soil for new planting.
It’s great to see this kind of hands-on action making our local spaces greener and more inviting. Well done Jayne and Susan

Cllrs Alex Ross-Shaw and Jayne Allen recently attended a meeting of Wrose Buddies, a social group for the over 50’s, to see first hand how the group were using a community grant awarded by Wrose Parish Council.
Everyone enjoyed a fun packed afternoon which included dancing to live music. You can see more of the action on the Wrose Buddies Facebook page which also has the group’s contact details if you would like to attend an event. Facebook – Wrose Buddies
The visit highlighted the positive impact of community grants and the vital role groups like Wrose Buddies play in creating a vibrant, connected community.
