Fiona Meer, Co-headteacher of Low Ash Primary School, received a sponsorship plaque from the Parish Council and said “We’re so grateful to Wrose Parish Council for their support. The children loved making the garden.”

Wrose Parish Council has announced a summer festival in partnership with The Bold Privateer pub and local district councillors.
The event will take place from 11am on Saturday 15th July and run all day on the grounds of The Bold Privateer pub.
A food and craft market will provide quality fresh and hot food and quality handmade items.
Music will be provided by Live at the Lounge, run by Bren Travis, who also delivered music at Saltaire Festival. The event will feature local bands and musicians young and old.
There will also be face painting and community stalls promoting local charities and organisations.
Cllr Alex Ross-Shaw, district councillor for Windhill & Wrose and Chair of Wrose Parish Council said, “We’re delighted to announce the first ever Wrose Summer Festival. It will be a great day for the whole family with music and food for everyone.”
Cllr Liz Rowe, said “We really want to support local businesses and organisations so we’d welcome people to get in touch if they want a stall.”
Bren Travis, from Live at the Lounge, said, “We’re putting on a day of great music with fabulous local musicians young and old. It’ll be a great day to come and hang out and enjoy some food and live music.”

Wrose Parish Council is committed to fostering community-driven initiatives that enhance the well-being and quality of life for all residents. To support this the Council has established 2 grant schemes to support community initiatives run by local not for profit community organisations.
Whether your group has a small-scale project in mind or a larger venture, these grants can provide the financial boost you need to turn your ideas into reality.
Our first scheme, the community grant scheme, offers awards of up to £500 to fund projects that will have a positive impact on Wrose residents. This scheme is ideal for smaller initiatives, such as, community garden projects, or providing equipment for use by a community group.
The second type of grant, the community sponsorship grant, makes awards typically between £500 and £2000. These grants are for community groups with more ambitious projects. This scheme is designed to support larger-scale initiatives that aim to bring about significant change or improvements within the community. Examples of projects that may qualify for this grant include, organising a community not-for profit festival, or undertaking extensive environmental conservation work.
While these grant schemes present excellent opportunities for community groups, certain eligibility criteria and conditions apply. In addition only a limited number of grants can be awarded each year. A modern cable box located at Towngate, in the heart of historic Wrose, has for several years looked rather out of place as well as attracting graffiti. To enhance the area, the Parish Council has partnered with local artist, Jenna Greenwood, and the local volunteers who maintain the area, to reimagine the cable box as a vibrant work of art.
The result is a wonderful mural featuring a colourful array of flowers that transforms the uninspiring box into an attraction in its own right. The project has been well received by the local residents who have given very positive feedback about their new piece of community artwork.
Ruth Thompson, Wrose Parish Council Clerk, said, “We’ve been really delighted with the positive response from local residents at the new artwork. It complements the fantastic work of local volunteers in maintaining the area with flowers and planting and greatly improves the historic Wrose Conservation Area.”

A small but enthusiastic team of litter pickers, including Wrose Parish councillors and members of the public, gave up a Saturday morning to litter pick at Claremont Park. Together they collected discarded tin cans, bottles, crisp packets, takeaway food cartons, plastic bags, sweet wrappers, and other assorted items that had been dropped all around the park. They did a fantastic job collecting bags and bags of litter. Thank you litter picking team and well done.
